“Tied To The Tracks” is a slow burn compared to the season’s first six episodes of Orange Is the New Black that mostly boasted a crowded ensemble acting out cruelly in the name of justice for Poussey.

Never before have my distaste for a show and love for its cast been so at odds.

“These stupid white dudes fighting (with Whitney Houston playing in the background!!) while this black woman waits for them to tire themselves out so she can fix their problems. As ridiculous as it is, it’s my absolute favorite scene of the entire first season…and a fitting metaphor for the moment our country is in.”

Hollywood’s reluctance to tell the stories of brown girls has always been rooted in — well, racism; but more precisely— the myth that white stories are neutral and, as such, are more relatable to the broader audience. Brown Girls disproves that myth, creating an imminently relatable coming-of-age story.

There aren’t many new lesbian, bisexual, trans, or queer characters on fall TV, but there are a few; and a handful of returning favorites.

Queer women continue to be mostly background noise on TV this year, Valerie Anne has some thoughts about that final episode of Black Sails, Gina Rodriguez is Carmen Sandiego, and that episode of Survivor.

CBS already canceled Doubt, but the full first season is airing this summer and it’s breaking major ground for trans representation.

2016 was the best of times and the worst of times. JK, it was the absolute worst of times. A lot of queer women died on TV. But a lot of them kissed and made googly eyes at each other too.

It’s a dark world, but there’s hope in stories, including lesbians on shows like “The Handmaid’s Tale,” “The Good Fight,” and “Imposters,” an epic miniseries about the LGBT rights movement and a non-binary character on “Billions.”

Lena makes the very bad decision not to tell Stef that she kissed Monty.

Just a couple of Conniving Psychotic Bisexuals on Gotham, and a Black lesbian with no agency on Empire. Maggie Sawyer, save us.
