The Comment Awards Are Wintering in Themyscira

Hi pals! I hope that you’re staying warm this week, and getting through it however you need to — whether that’s by surrounding yourself with family or going to a holiday orgy. 2017: It’s almost over!

This week, Heather interviewed Cameron Esposito and Rhea Butcher, who hopefully will be co-headlining the American presidency in a few years.

You never forget your first time! (These aren’t what you think.)

In an extremely on-brand and adorable move, Lena Waithe got engaged on Thanksgiving!

These are all excellent and you may want to run out and read them right now: The Top 10 Queer and Feminist Books of 2017, from Carolyn.

And then there were your comments!

On Y’All Need Help #16: You Can Do Things About You!

The Force Is Strong With This One Award to Rey:

Just co-signing all this great advice. My life got so much better when I stopped believing the people (mah parentsss! mah teachers!) who frequently declared out loud to me with 100% certainty, “I know what’s best for you.

On Holiday Gift Guide: For the Queers in the Kitchen:

The THANK YOU, THEY ARE NOT THE SAME! Award to Holly:

I might be vegan, but I will swap my delicious all carb noodles for vegetable noodles when I’m dead. Spiralising stuff is pretty fun though, I will admit.

On The 8 Sexiest Non-Sex Film Scenes of 2017:

The Themyscira? I Barely Know Her! Award to amidola:

I wasn’t spoiled at all and I was slack jawed and making little animal noises throughout the first thirty minutes. Especially the fight scenes. I was zero prepared for Robin Wright, seriously, and it was one of the most rewarding movie going experiences ever. Expectations make and break Themyscira, I guess?

On Relevant To Your Interests: Some (Spoiler-Free) Star Wars Merch For You and Your Favorite Porg:

The Star Tours Award to Kris H:

Is it TOO EXTRA to carry a BB-8 purse if one already has two Star Wars tattoos? Asking for a friend…who is me.

On 6 Kinds of Coats for Facing Any Winter Weather:

The Chasing Amy Award to Carmen SanDiego and Al:

I read the headline as “6 Kinds of Coats for Facing Amy Winters

And on Pop Culture Fix: One Pic From “One Day At A Time,” The Allegedly Not-Lesbian “Ocean’s 8″ Trailer and Other Stories:

The Carol of the Ocean Award to Heather Hogan:

That Ocean’s 8 trailer is gayer than the Carol one, I’ll tell you that right now.

  1. Our community is often divided when it comes to matters great and small, but I am glad to conclude that, without a shadow of a doubt, we all agree that Ocean’s Eight is going to be the gayest film ever created.

  2. The Chasing Amy Award Is so appropriate because I have not only chased an Amy but also married her

  3. I can’t believe that my first time watching Wonder Woman would qualify me for a comment award! Thank you very much for that, and just know, that I went to the movie theater with friends who will be adequately teasing me about the Antiope thing and the squeaking for the rest of my days.
