Gay Agenda Recap and Transcript: Autostraddle’s Leaders Talk About the Vision!
We’re very serious gay professionals.
We’re very serious gay professionals.
“The world needs an all-queer band of string players called Homosexually Charged Violins now more than ever.”
You, our community, raised $118,000 for Autostraddle, for independent queer media, for our vision and goals for the future. And we want to celebrate YOU!
Elison’s latest novel, Find Layla, looks at the realities of poverty and neglect for teens in the age of social media.
“Oh, and the sex, obviously.”
Welcome to the second annual IT’S GREAT TO BE GAY DAY, an international holiday we invented… well, because we can. And also because EVERY SINGLE EFFING DAY!! is A GREAT DAY TO BE GAY! Here’s 20+ lesbian, bisexual, queer, trans, and non-binary humans telling you why the heck we love being exactly who we are.
Y’all aren’t f*cking around — we’re almost to our goal! Also, you wrote some VERY cute tweets that we would like to review with the whole group.
“Marry me so we can live in a tiny house!”
Look at all the cool things you could buy during our last fundraiser of 2020! Get your holigay shopping done early! Tell a friend!
Hi hello fellow gays and queers, lesbians and bisexuals; it is Monday and look where we are! $53,713 of the way to our goal. That’s 45% in six days, people.
Why do we talk about care as a scarcity model? How do you live with ~the void~? How do we adjust to changing language for identity and in movements? Is America going to end in 2024? All this and more!
“James is a great man who let Bette Porter yell at him all the time and never complained. He was Bette’s most loyal bottom.”
People who are overworked, under resourced and overwhelmed do not question, do not push back, do not revolt. How do we dismantle grind culture and cultivate a new culture of rest to collectively sustain our focus on the future?
Autostraddle leadership will your questions live (virtually) with our voices and faces! Ask about the vision, the fundraiser, what we’re planning, our favorite cookies — we want to hear from you and then talk to you through a screen!
If you’re asking “why fundraise now?” the answer is twofold.
The heart of my new vision for Autostraddle is pretty simple: make more space for lesbians and queer people — especially people of color — to be our entire selves and to be known for the multi-dimensional ways we move in the world. We are the ultimate authority on our culture, who we are and how we live. This is a home for us.
“There’s no way a straight person could yearn like Taylor Swift does.”
“I too am in ‘active negotiations’ to include LGBT content in my holidays – by setting up an OkCupid profile.”
CuTie.BIPoC Fest gives me hope that it’s possible for spaces to exist that don’t sit under a roof of white supremacy, patriarchy or capitalism.
“I wish I were a Magnificent Melissa, but if we’re being honest, I’m at BEST a Smiling Rob.”
