Sunday Funday Is Joyriding in a Mercedes with Lena, Janelle, Lizzo, and Shania

Gooooood morning little petunias! One of my houseplants is DYING and I don’t know how to save it! I’m devastated! Not really, but I do want to be a plant gay, even though I don’t understand them. They are all named after female saints though, so I don’t know maybe they’ll stay alive because of magic? That’s how plant parenting works right? Magic?

Anyway, the news is great this week, get into it.

+ Did you know Lena Waithe is a Mercedes ambassador? She also thinks you can “upcycle your ex”!

You can, but you’ve gotta be careful! I don’t know, to me, that sounds like trouble. But you know, my fiancé and I will have been together five years next month, So it’s interesting, the relationship we’re in now is not the one we’ve been in when we first got together. We’ve both experienced things in our lives that have helped us grow and become better versions of ourselves.

Great news week, right??? I’ll see y’all next week. Until then: wear sunscreen, tell the girl you like how you feel, get in a natural body of water, wash your face,, stay hydrated, smile at a baby, cut some flowers, kiss your friends. I love you.

  1. What is happening with your plant? I feel the devastation! I thought one of my succulents that had survived a terrible year (brainwise and moving multiple timeswise) with me was dying a couple of weeks ago and I was so upset (it was underwatering and she’s fine now. And she’s also now named Lady Stoneheart). But also I have gotten super into plants since i’m finally settled now and can identify some problems.

        • however i have found that i am doing slightly better at not killing my plants now that i’ve made a pinterest board with care articles for them? i mean, i am still pretty sure i’m going to kill my Calathea, which is one with damp soil needs.

      • From what I gleaned growing up with greenthumbs…spray bottle and soil aeration, you might be over watering or the water can’t get to the right parts at the proper ratio.

If you know the name (colloquial or scientific) of your plant you can look up its origin and the conditions of its native environment.
Like if it’s from a very humid place with rainfall under a certain amount it might just need well diffused moisture and not a good pour for example.

  2. Please also allow me to draw your attention to this comment on Lena Waithe’s Instagram:

I’m still side-eyeing the fuck out of this project until they announce they’ve included at least one single trans woman in their cast, but if Lena Waithe is on board that gives me some small hope it might not be entirely awful??
