Mary Lambert Is Engaged, Love Keeps Being Not a Lie!

Like you, I am pretty much terrified to open up any app on the internet and look at the news in the morning — but some days! Some days! Like today! The news is good! So good! And today that news is that Mary Lambert is engaged! She posted a photo on Instagram showing off her fiance, her ring, and her proposal last night with the caption: “I’ve dreamt of this moment my whole life. We’re gonna get married in front of god and everybody!!!!! I love you, Wyatt Paige Hermansen!!!”

The actual engagement took place on stage during one of Mary’s concerts, this one in Fayetteville, Arkansas, where the couple participated in an “on-campus discussion about mental health, queer identities, and radical self-love, punctuated by Mary’s beautiful songs.” Having seen Mary Lambert about a billion times live and having met her at A-Camp, I feel like her getting engaged at a grand piano is just exactly correct.

I don’t know much about Mary Lambet’s fiance, except that they co-host the The Manic Episodes podcast together, and also what I’ve gleaned on Intsagram in the last 30 minutes. The most important thing being that their Insta name is one_chance_fancy as is in “Here’s your one chance, Fancy, don’t let me down” from Reba McIntyre’s iconic “Fancy,” one of the greatest songs ever written and recorded. And also that they seem just super duper happy which makes me super duper happy.

So many congratulations to the happy couple, and thank you for letting us celebrate alongside you!

  1. I hope Wyatt is not abusing Miranda Lambert like they abused their last spouse. Wyatt was a horrible human when they lived in Arkansas.

      • it’s a serious charge, but made entirely anonymously & without any supporting info. maybe there are reasons for that, but the potential that it’s a personal grudge hoping to gain some traction seems equally possible.

hoping for the best for the couple, and especially Ms. Lambert.

    • Miranda Lambert is not the same person, though they are both singers and I would often confuse them myself because I’m terrible with names.

    • What an awful comment on an engagement announcement. Do you have a link to any information on this? …or screenshots, or a facebook page or something?

      • Wyatt abused my friend while they were married. And now she has to see her abusers face pop up like this. Mary if you see this and Wyatt has laid hands on you before, just know you’re not alone.

        • Emily, i’m very sorry, this must be very painful for you and your friend. sending you both peace, and hoping Mary Lambert gets the info she needs to take care of herself.

  2. Truly love how Mary was so overcome with joy that she forgot to actually accept Wyatt’s proposal until someone in the audience reminded her!

  3. I’ve listened to the Manic Episodes and they sound like best friends and a great match. So silly and comfortable with each other.

  4. I feel the need to say that Bobbie Gentry wrote and recorded “Fancy” originally. I say this not to correct, but rather to turn new fans onto a great voice.

  5. Okay, as adorable as this is, I have a deep, deep need to hear the rest of their cover of Hozier’s Work Song, because *it is fire*
