Fiona Apple’s “The Idler Wheel…” Is Streaming on NPR, Probably You Should Listen

Rachel’s Team Pick:

I know, you thought Fiona Apple had topped herself as far as paragraph-long album titles (and also albums) with:

When the Pawn Hits the Conflicts He Thinks like a King What He Knows Throws the Blows When He Goes to the Fight and He’ll Win the Whole Thing Fore He Enters the Ring There’s No Body to Batter When Your Mind Is Your Might So When You Go Solo, You Hold Your Own Hand and Remember That Depth Is the Greatest of Heights and If You Know Where You Stand, Then You’ll Know Where to Land and If You Fall It Won’t Matter, Cuz You Know That You’re Right.

Well, you are entitled to maintain that opinion if you want, but you should at least check out The Idler Wheel Is Wiser Than The Driver of The Screw And Whipping Cords Will Serve You More Than Ropes Will Ever Do. (Okay, yes, that’s more of a sentence-long album title. Bear with me.) Its official release is on June 19, but you may have already heard the single “Every Single Night,” and as of today you can hear the entire album streaming on NPR! “Every Single Night” still sounds fantastic, but I think I may ultimately be a “Hot Knife” girl? I don’t know, I really like the album. You should listen to it too! What do you think? What part of my body should I tattoo Fiona Apple’s face on? Also, Fuck/Marry/Kill Tidal, When the Pawn, and Extraordinary Machine? Just kidding, you obvs marry all of them.

UPDATE: There’s also a new video out for “Every Single Night!” There’s an octopus in it.
