Recently I got to adventure with five other queers on on behalf of the Florida Keys & Key West! If you’ve never been to The Keys, the little islands off the coast of Miami, you’re missing out on some very colorful places and a truly wild time. On the outside, The Keys are a laid back stretch of beachy towns with predictable tourist traps and seaside souvenir shops, but there is a rich history of queerness just beneath the surface, as well as incredible experiences like snorkeling off Molasses Reef or watching the sunset from a catamaran.

“Gayest City”… not so much. But we’re cooler than you think!

My girlfriend took me on her work trip to Oahu, where I ate and beached and learned and museumed and only suffered one major physical injury!

After a four-year stint in Autostraddle’s top American lesbianish city, I thought I had developed impossibly high expectations for every future place I’d inhabit. Then I found Sydney.

The City of Brotherly Love’s got plenty to do for ladies of all stripes.

“Istanbul’s only lesbian bar is on the fifth floor of an apartment building… Its entrance was marked with pictures of Victoria’s Secret models in angel wings.”

“I wanted to stay there forever and start from scratch. I wanted us to go back and live like these people did because it was just so much cooler. Everyone around me was shifting — people got a little quieter, some slowly broke from their group to sit on the hill, and some people walked to the center of the field and just stood motionless. I think it also helped that a few hundred feet away stood Mount Olympus. You guys, History!!
