Sunday Funday Knows How To Use Sam Smith’s Pronouns

Happy Sunday homies and homos! I hope you’re well. My life is full of hard and important decisions lately and I could be really sad and mourn transitioning relationships, but instead of being sad/stressed/anxious about those I’m just gonna talk about how I saw the sky during a sunset the other day and it was blindingly beautiful. That’s happened a couple of times. I find myself wanting to feel sad, but then notice something really beautiful in nature and then I can’t be sad anymore! Healthy? Who knows. Helping me right now? Yep.

In the same vein of ignoring the bad for the good, here’s some good news from this week.

+ The life of Doris Payne, an internationally known, grandma-aged jewel thief, will be portrayed by Tessa Thompson in an upcoming film.

+ Sam Smith, who came out as nonbinary a while ago and who I talked fondly about in this very column, uses they/them pronouns.

Today is a good day so here goes. I’ve decided I am changing my pronouns to THEY/THEM ❤ after a lifetime of being at war with my gender I’ve decided to embrace myself for who I am, inside and out. I’m so excited and privileged to be surrounded by people that support me in this decision but I’ve been very nervous about announcing this because I care too much about what people think but fuck it! I understand there will be many mistakes and mis gendering but all I ask is you please please try. I hope you can see me like I see myself now. Thank you.

+ Lizzo does some song association for Elle Women in Music issue

+ A self-proclaimed “queer girl in a nose ring”  closed out the BBC Proms pulling out gems like Bizet’s “Habañera” and “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”

+ Ellen Page will gladly only play lesbians from now on. Good plan.

+ Speaking of Ellens, Ellen Thee Degeneres stole Brad Pitt’s girlfriend.

+ Here’s a queer horror film for you spooky bitches to check out.

+ These two queer varsity athletes at Oberlin are dating.

+ Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union made some limited edition tees supporting LGBTQ+ equality.

+ If you wanna watch Reese Witherspoon throw ice cream at Meryl Streep, you now can.

+ Hustlers (2019) is the greatest film on earth.

+ There are some queers and nonbinary people in this video game called Borderlands 3. Is it about Gloria Anzaldua?

Have a good week, smell something you love, grow something good, drink coffee on your porch, rob some rich men, and love yourself. You deserve it babe.
