Sunday Funday is Celebrating Goth Lesbian Love and Babies

Happy Sunday, babes! Did you get to be with people you loved this week? I did not, but that’s fine! I was with my cats and I managed to change my sheets and that’s all I did, but I’m not gonna hate myself any more than I already do, so I’m gonna say the week was fine. I have made it past 30 consecutive days of crying! Did you know you can cry for 30 days! It’s really less of a “when will I ever experience happiness again” feeling now, and more of a “could I turn this into a performance project/book/dissertation???” Being in grad school really ruins your mind! But at least I’m thinking ahead. If you cried for 30 days, what would you do to monetize it?

While you think of that, here’s the news:

+ Billy Dee Williams, veteran of stage and screen came out as gender fluid. At 82!

What haven’t diminished at age 82 are his style, his confidence, and his effortless charm. In a simple tan button-up, with his hair slicked back, Williams continues his analysis of cool: “And you see I say ‘himself’ and ‘herself,’ because I also see myself as feminine as well as masculine. I’m a very soft person. I’m not afraid to show that side of myself.”

+ Goth lesbian brides are now goth lesbian moms

+ Tiffany St. Bunny is turning a former ghost town into the perfect queer photo shoot.

+ Looking for an exciting Giving Tuesday project? The University of Texas Gender and Sexuality Center is raising money for a crisis fund to help students in need.

+ Feminist Saudi film Scales was named best picture the Singapore International Film Festival

+ Zina Bencheikh took on the Moroccan Ministry of Tourism to get more women tour guides.

As a result of Zina’s fight—which involved months of lobbying—the Moroccan Ministry of Tourism began issuing new tour guide licenses in 2018 to women for the first time in a decade.

“We wanted to get as many women to apply as we could, so I encouraged all the women in the office and from my network to apply and even helped them with their paperwork. We had five women pass the test,” Zina added, mentioning it’s a record number of female tour guides in the country. They have since grown to have 13 female leaders in their network.

Atlantics is Senegalese folklore turned into a French-Senegalese feminist mood piece, available on Netflix.

We made it to December, and I’m so fucking proud! Go out there and take on the few days we have left in this precious decade. I can’t wait for 2020 because honestly, what a hell-decade! Just pure and utter “what the fuck?!” energy for ten whole years! But I am so grateful to you, and your readership and your friendship. Go love on yourself this week because you deserve it.

  1. Ooof. @alarae I’m sending a whole lot of love your way. I really hope you have access to good support – none of us are designed to face everything by ourselves. You’re worthy of love and care, and that’s irrespective of what you get done.

    • Thirded. My friend just finished their degree, and their life is so much more relaxed now. They’re finally taking time to address their own needs, and getting feistier in the process! Can’t wait for you to get there. Stay safe and try to take care of yourself.

  2. “I can’t wait for 2020 because honestly, what a hell-decade! Just pure and utter “what the fuck?!” energy for ten whole years!”

    THIS. Seriously, what the fuck!!!

    • Another round of love to you, and thanks for all that you bring to this community. Including – thank you for being vulnerable and sharing what’s true for you, in this case sadness. I’m so grateful for you, and your smarts, and heart. Hoping that you do have and/or can get some good support.. It’s seriously tough times 💗

  3. Sometimes many days of crying can be therapeutic. I never did 30 but did do about 14 days of crying & by the end I kind of felt better.
