Emily’s Team Pick: Jonsi from Sigur Ros

Jonsi came to my town last night and I couldn’t go because I spent all my money on taxi cabs the previous night. Regardless, I can’t stop listening to his new album ‘Go’. Listen to the entire record on his website and his cover of MGMT’s “Kids”. If you’re a fan of Sigur Ros (if you haven’t heard of them, what are you waiting for? clickclickclick), you’ll probably love “Go” even if it’s a bit different. Also, Jonsi is gay, and I hear those at autostraddle really like gay people.

Emily Choo started as an intern with Autostraddle when she was 18 years old. She's now 10 years older and lives in Toronto with her partner and cat. The defining moment of her career was when Riese said this about her: " I think Emily Choo is a very bright, 'poetically inclined' girl who pays attention to everything and knows almost everything (the point of stuff, how to read, how beautiful things feel, how scary things feel, etc.) but doesn't believe/accept/realize yet that she knows almost everything." She still doesn't believe she knows anything, so, thank you, Riese, for that.

  1. You heard that?
    Who told!
I don’t even know what muff means, stop staring at me, gosh!

  2. i drove six hours to see him in lawrence, ks a week and a half ago. for only having nine songs in the set, the show was amaaaaaaaaaazing! he got together with 59productions for all of the set design and lighting and stuff…lots of videos all over of pre-production if you’re into that.

    so worth it!

i also highly recommend seeing any show at liberty hall in lawrence. it’s a super intimate venue and probably not a bad seat in the house. i was behind a beanstalk man and could see fine.

  3. Jónsi has hit on a number of my friends but never on me. I don´t know how to feel about that.

      • Sure he’s got a longterm boyf I think so that’s probably why, nothing bad on you!

But yeah, nice choice AS person, his album is just epic, it’s amazing, everytime I listen to it I cant help but smile. Id say he’d be great in a massive festival venue when everyones drunk and happy, I dont know why, but I think it’d be as savage as this-> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jq6M4PWKvq4 I know that video has absolutely nothing to do with Jonsi or Sigur Ros but I just wanted to post it is all!

          • I wish I could say that was me but tickets sell out literally 1 million years in advance for Glasto! Jonsi is doing the festival circuit around Europe this summer and I hope to see him at whichever one I decide to go to, if I manage to get a good enough video of him live i’ll post it here most definitely! Im really curious to see how his songs will work live in front of a big crowd, great im assuming.
