Hello and welcome to this thing we’re doing where we help you figure out what you’re gonna put in your mouth this week. Some of these are recipes we’ve tried, some of these are recipes we’re looking forward to trying, all of them are fucking delicious. Tell us what you want to put in your piehole or suggest your own recipes, and we’ll talk about which things we made, which things we loved, and which things have changed us irreversibly as people. Last week, we ate so many festive cookies.

This time of year, every recipe seems to be so involved. You’re whisking, roasting, whipping, flipping and flambeing every ingredient under the sun to impress your holiday guests. 1. THIS is my kind of cooking thread. Seriously, thank you, I love you.
Time for another trip to the grocery store. I plan to keep on rocking the single life with my microwavable mug cakes.

  2. My favorite in a microwave recipe is simple:
    1: Take bowl
    2: Fill bowl with pasta
    3: fill bowl with water
4: microwave bowl until pasta is cooked.
    5: drain bowl
6:(optional) add cheese/sauce (also heated up in microwave)
    7: eat

    • I really wish there was a “grand bow” emoji, because that is the feeling I wish to convey every time someone thanks me for sharing a recipe (or 27).

  3. No way, I actually just made that same mug coffee cake last night!! It wasn’t bad, but nothing beats that mug cinnamon roll. So delicious.

  4. Thank you for supporting the microwave lifestyle!!! Everyone always makes fun of me because I make tea in the microwave, but I’m gonna show them. I’ll make some fancy cake in a mug to go with the tea and NOT SHARE ANY of it. Ha.

  5. You are my people; I am one of you.

I have microwaved whole squash (spaghetti squash).
I make big batches of microwave burritos from scratch and freeze them.

All microwave, all the time. Although, toaster oven is nice for special occasions (crispy bread). It’s like the microwave version of a conventional oven, kinda.

People make fun of me for my microwaveable meals but WHY DO THEY PUT A POTATO BUTTON ON THERE THEN, HMM? I win. We all win.

  6. You manged to get the awesomeness of microwavable lemon curd on a foods that can be made in the microwave list.
I don’t know you, but I wanna shake your hand.

  7. u guize i ended up cooking xmas dinner yesterday at the last minute and i had to use the STOVE and it took THREE HOURS just for a single vegetarian entree.

Granted, a lot of that was prep time chopping veggies and spices and stuff. But STILL.

I was thinking wistfully of our microwave user’s club here the whole time. Lol.

  8. And we microwaved all night to the best post ever!
Thank you Kaitlyn, this is life changing. I am bookmarking the hell out of this
But cheddar cheese on top of apple pie is not gonna happen. No way.

    • I used to feel the same. Then I met a tiny Wisconsinite named Mary at the Mars Cheese Castle who told me that “apple pie without cheese is like a kiss without a squeeze.”

  9. oh my god i’m making those sweet potato chips today and they are one of the best things to happen to my mouth.

  10. I appreciate knowing that I can steam artichokes in the microwave. Maybe now I won’t feel like I have to boil them for a full year if I want to enjoy them.

  11. Yay, cooking on the quick! There is always room for more of these recipes. Please add more, as time allows (of course.)
