I am both incredibly happy for Amy and wish the Biden administration would do more than lip service and publicity stunts when it comes to the anti-trans laws sweeping the nation (and yes, obviously his administration does more than the alternative, but we can have higher standards). A federal judge has ruled that parts of Florida’s new voting rights laws are unconstitutional, and that Florida will have to pass any new laws by the courts for approval.

Unfortunately that will be overturned by SCOTUS, they made it very clear that federal courts have no say in state’s election laws.

Nice that we got X on the passport, but I think a better idea would be to just not have gender on the passport at all. Cause having an X or really any gender on a passport as a friend pointed out could make a person an even bigger target at airports or anywhere that requires a passport.

Did you see the news of the British MP who came out as trans? It’s a rather sad story, but still also important as a role model. I hope he will do well after this. I’m not in the UK so I have no clue about his politics or anything. But as a person, what he’s gone through can’t have been easy.

I am curious as to what your reaction was to the Atlantic article? Some of the analysis of the past was a bit meh but the emphasis on finding creative solutions to a new situation cleared the air for me at least.
It is common in Australia and New Zealand to make jokes about Americans complaining about gas prices. Generally without considering the effect on people without our safety net. I am often curious as to how the climate crisis is talked about in yr country outside of the politics we see.
To be fair, in the area that I live in everything is so expensive that living wage starts @ $25/ HR. I make $18/ HR, work 60+ HR weeks and would probably be homeless if my partner didn’t make more than me. Some places just suck!
