  1. Gah ! I’m Codependent Lesbian Space Alien!

“While you’re deeply needy and your quirks might take a little getting used to, there’s no doubt you’re worth chasing across the galaxy!”

This is quite a lot of truth first thing in the morning. But thank you for the words of encouragement, I will persevere.

  2. – I wish to note that Madame Vastra isn’t an alien. She’s a prehistoric dinosaur lady native to Earth.
    – Where’s the freeze dried ice cream? Where’s the freeze dried ice cream? Where’s the freeze dried ice cream? There it is.
    – I picked “Space Oddity”, but I love you so much for including “Star Trekkin'”.

  3. Sally, you are the only person who has ever or will ever ask me to choose between Madame Vastra and Baby Yoda — and I truly, deeply cherish that about you.

  4. Oh my gosh, thank you so much for including codependent lesbian space aliens in this quiz. That movie is a cult classic and I am in fact a codependent lesbian space alien seeking same! I answered so many questions the Star Trek-y way that I’m surprised I didn’t get something Star Trek-y, but not mad about it, not mad at all. Guess the alien thirst won out over the Vulcan-lovin’.

    • Well, checking the results, it seems that codependent lesbian space alien is the most popular result by a clear margin…which I guess on brand for the site but possibly implies no-one is absorbing any of the frequent YNH advice on boundaries.

  5. I got Sally Ride… nice. Also, in the spirit of this quiz, my favorite queer women in space books:
A Memory Called Empire/A Desolation Called Peace by Arkady Martine (Desolation is sooooo much better imo but Memory is fun)
The Light Brigade by Kameron Hurley (traumatized and badass soldier slowly realizing maybe those in charge are lying about everything. also memory shenanigans)
The Space Between Worlds by Micaiah Johnson (okay more like queer woman in time but still good. I wish the f/f was a little more prominent but it’s also kind of fucked up f/f so I’m super into it anyway)
The Stars Are Legion by Kameron Hurley (Hurley’s standalone novels are way more interesting to me. This is my fav scifi book ever. It’s disgusting. It’s gay. It’s political intrigue. It’s wonderful)
Sisters of the Vast Black by Lina Rather (quick read, pretty interesting!)
The Luminous Dead by Caitlin Starling (I wish this didn’t try to do the whole ‘oh but actually super rich woman is nice at heart’, but I still liked it… I’m a sucker for antagonistic f/f lol)
Raven Strategem by Yoon Ha Lee (I need to finish this trilogy but I love the main character(s).
Planetfall by Emma Newman (unrequited/one sided but still good)

    Bonus: queer men in space:
The Darkness Outside Us by Eliot Schrefer (this may be one of my fav scifi ever, starts out as an enemies to lovers cheesy YA romance but then turns existential and amazing)
The Vanished Birds by Simon Jimenez (dreamy, very sad)

  6. I got Catra and was surprised until I remembered I have a tab open to buy cat ears because I saw a cute girl wear some in a Sam’s club and I’m currently bottling up my feelings as I type. So maybe there is some scientific method to this idk

    • I am so glad someone got Cylon! And really well done for managing to radiate destruction without actually condoning mass murder, I feel like you can claim the galaxy AND the moral high ground!

  7. You are the best for including links to all the songs!!
    Yours
    A Codependent Lesbian Space Alien!

// As seen in Madeleine Olnek’s deeply heterophobic film of the same name, you are a lonely lesbian alien who has fled to earth in the hope of hot human on alien action. While you’re deeply needy and your quirks might take a little getting used to, there’s no doubt you’re worth chasing across the galaxy!//

    • I got Jett Reno which is fantastic. I love Star trek and nothing would make me happier than pretending like I know something about science while wearing a tight polyester suit and escaping from the Borg or my own evil time loop clone. I’m not 100% sure that second option has been a real Star Trek plotline, but statistically it will be at some point.

  8. Wow!! So, I guess I am “Sally K Ride,” who I got the chance to meet as a kiddo while visiting NASA in Houston. She was wondering the grounds and my dad recognized her… Really bizarre and super cool that she was my “Woman in Space.” :)

  9. I got Sara Lance?? I had to look up who she was
“Undoubtedly the most badass bisexual to traverse both space AND time. When it comes to leading your rag-tag band of adventure pals you are a total space top, though with a somewhat casual approach to your own mortality.”

  10. Co dependant lesbian space alien…. Though I’m thinking of retaking the quiz and selecting Madame Vastra, who I only didn’t choose because technically she’s not an alien – her species evolved on Earth before humanity

Yes I’m a bisexual Whovian, and my first crush was probably Ace, back in the late 80s…
