Quiz: Which Baby-Sitters Club Book Are You?

The Babysitters Club — in the ‘80s and ‘90s, there was no other series like it. Reading as a third- and fourth-grader, those books promised an independent and glorious teenage future, full of hard work, close friendship, and biking to one another’s houses, with nary a cell phone in sight. The Babysitters lived in Connecticut, but to me, they might as well have lived in paradise. I tore through those books with the fervor of a kid who couldn’t wait for freedom, and I always wondered about the author, Ann M. Martin, who, as the bio said, “lives in upstate New York with her dogs and cats.” Turns out she’s GAYYYY! Because of course she is. So: which iconic Babysitters Club book are you?

  1. ‘the truth about stacey’ not that i doubt the quiz algorithm BUT i am a kristy to the core! and definitely not cosmopolitan or fashion-forward. stacey would be horrified at the number of cargo shorts in my wardrobe

  2. I got Claudia and the New Girl!

I’m a genXer who missed The Babysitter’s Club phenom but the description is spot on.

“You’re artistic, and you sometimes feel misunderstood by your family and friends. You make your own jewelry, alter your own clothes, and yearn for a future in the art world! Self-expression is at the very core of everything you do.”

  3. This was so cute and the 90s references were spot-on! I got Claudia and the New Girl, which sounds about right as an artsy kid who had subliminal crushes on cool girls I’d just met.
Also, RIP Borders Books & Music, I miss ye still!
