Sometimes in life, we just happen to spend lots of time single. Maybe it’s because you can’t find someone or maybe you don’t want someone – or at least, not enough to make the effort. Maybe it isn’t right for your career or educational status or whatever to get too involved in a relationship. Maybe you relish the independence of not having to plan your life around anyone but yourself; you love your loving, but not like you love your freedom. Maybe you’re a rolling stone who just can’t settle down and gather moss. Or maybe these are just all things you tell yourself because it makes the loneliness easier to bear.
Whatever is the case, that’s okay. And since there are a lot of you – “songs for lonely queers” is one of our most requested playlist ideas – let’s hear it for all the single queer ladies out there. Put your hands up!

Great list. There’s A Place is a favorite early Beatles song of mine. I Am A Rock is such a young person’s song. I love it. :D
If you’ve not heard it, you should check out AG’s cover of There’s a Place – she’s the only person to convince me that Beatles covers could possibly be a good idea.
I love how suddenly and unexpectedly vindictive “I Am A Rock” becomes.
“Who do you think you are? Barging in on me and my guitar… Little girl, hey, the door is that way. You better go. You know the fire’s out anyway!”
Perfection. Thank you!
