One of my favorite parts of the movie is the reverence that Moana has for her ancestors and her culture, even while she pushes it and challenges it to embrace the future. This is a reality that many POC, especially queer ones have to deal with.

In my mind, to fail at LGBT inclusion in fiction is to have a failure of imagination, a lazy lack of understanding concerning the world outside of one’s self. To intentionally choose to tell a story about a real LGBT person and then exclude their queer identity is a failure on an entirely different level.

Beyond the Aggressives shows us how far we have come in terms of portraying trans masc people, but we still have such a long way to go.

Trans film history — like all film histories — is one filled with contradictions. “Disclosure” succeeds by making these contradictions its subject.

The film goes beyond mere representational milestones. It’s beautiful, it’s laugh-out-loud hilarious, it has two whole musical numbers, three whole Britney Spears references, and is just bursting with queer creativity!

Jurassic World: Dominion features a bisexual Black character played by DeWanda Wise, but her queerness barely breaks out of subtextual territory.

How can you watch this series and not feel angry with how deprived we are of stories about queer people with disabilities? How can you watch this series and not be delighted with what’s finally on-screen? How can you watch this series and not be excited about all of the possibilities fulfilled and all the possibilities still to come?

Shelli and Drew had such high hopes for The Craft: Legacy, and wow were they dashed by this terrible movie.
