Where I grew up, Krispy Kreme doughnuts were king! But ever since I moved to NYC, I’ve never even seen a Krispy Kreme doughnut. Instead, there are Dunkin’ Donuts on every corner. Okay but last Wednesday I went to the neurologist, and when I got out of the Uber a majestic sight — A HOT LIGHT. A KRISPY KREME HOT LIGHT. There’s now a real live Krispy Kreme in Queens! I ordered one entire box of doughnuts and that is what I am thankful for on this Monday back at work. That and also you reading today’s Pop Culture Fix.

+ Well, well, well, look which Sex and the City characters are at Pride together. LOOK AT THEM.

  1. On the Krispy Kreme situation: they were in NYC for awhile but then suddenly shut down their stores. I remember a friend telling me how bereft they were about it. My theory was they got too big too fast. I just found this tidbit: “At its peak, Krispy Kreme operated six stores in New York City, but in 2009 the national franchise was forced to close all but its Penn Station location.” They appear to be making a comeback as of this year and last. (As a NC native I have strong Krispy Kreme feelings.)

  2. Ack, can’t wait to see Sara Ramirez in another show! Ended up watching all of Madam Secretary despite the fact that they were only in a couple seasons… SO ready for this and now wondering if it’s time to watch the original show

  3. I giggled at the introduction words ,coupled with the mentioning of cynthia in the title, cause there was a krispy creme( or another donut shop, sorry, rewatch was years ago) linked to SATC.
Miranda goes to weight watchers ( S5,i think?) to lose her baby fat and cheating the eating rules by sharing a glaced donut with a fellow weight watcher. Then they sleep together , andafter he gives her oral, he comes up, kisses her, butnot wiping his face before, ” With miranda” All over him” .
So after she explained that to him the 2nd time it happened , he got upset and broke up with her. So after that , remembering that kiss, Miranda never craved glaced donuts again. 🤣
