Welcome to Wednesday and another Pop Culture Fix!
+ Here’s that Little Women trailer. I’m not going to be able to tolerate a straight Jo March, so I feel good about the fact that she seems p. gay in this thing.
+ You know what I do know? That I would really love to see all these books about time-traveling lesbians turned into movies!
+ People keep writing in to ask us to write about Miley Cyrus. Laneia told Stef and Stef said, “Look. What can I do for you?” Anyway, People rounded up all the things Miley has ever said about her sexuality?
+ Here’s where Cara Delevingne lives.
+ Activists call for more religious LGBTQ TV characters.
+ Bridget Lawless has launched a new prize for thrillers that avoid violence against women.
+ Netflix has hired Fran Tirado as leader of brand and editorial strategy for LGBTQ+ content.
+ All the Gentleman Jack scripts for season one are in BBC’s script gallery!
+ The Bold Type‘s fourth season will have 18 episodes.
+ Here’s what’s next for your favorite stabby lovebirds on Killing Eve season three!
+ U.S. Soccer hired a lobbyist to fight the equal pay bill in Congress.
+ At Vanity Fair: “Pose’s Rise, Transparent’s Bittersweet Finale, and the State of Transgender Representation on TV” (Speaking of Pose, it’s time-jumping again.)
+ How GLOW upped its ’80s fashion in season three.
Heather, thank you so much for the link to the Gentleman Jack scripts! I’ve only had the quickest glance at one of them and am smitten all over again. I wasn’t ready for the level of detail in the script.
“ANNE beams her biggest most disarming space-invading joyous smile”
Can’t wait to spend more time reading these!
Hahaha is that a real quote?!
Yes! From the 8th episode where Anne meets the queen of Denmark.
Oooh, they are awesome! Not only do they add insight to the characters (the descriptions of Ainsworth are priceless), they contain scenes that didn’t make the final cut of the show!
Oh god – so many highlights! I’m currently reading the script for episode 8 and it contains gems like “ANN takes her bonnet and gloves off. She looks out of the window, and then looks back into the room, and at the bed. The bed where she shared so many tender moments with ANNE LISTER. She’s thoughtful. Then she grabs her bonnet and gloves and sets off out of the room again.”
Thanks for the link @heather!
y’all, so many gems. check out the notes for the title sequence: https://imgur.com/a/6kFPMgO
They’d rather pay a lobbyist to fight equal pay than straight up pay the women. Unbelievable
I saw that upward nod in the introduction scene, Jo March!
