Pop Culture Fix: Demi Lovato’s Comedy Pilot “Hungry” Will Star Anna Akana? Sounds Gay, I’m In

Did you know it was Wednesday? I almost forgot! But I remembered in time to bring you your Pop Culture Fix!

+ Demi Lovato is creating a comedy pilot of NBC and Anna Akana will star in it. Well that sounds gay, I’m in.

+ Laverne Cox spoke to Variety about the future of trans liberation

+ FEAR STREET TEASER IS HERE and in case my aggressive capitalization didn’t give it away, I personally am very excited about this.

+ No I will never shut up about In The Heights; here’s Daphne Rubin-Vega talking briefly about playing a queer character. We have more In The Heights content coming your way!

+ Pose may be over but we can still relive the joy of it, for example here’s a list of Elektra’s best reads.

+ Noted bisexual Lili Rienhart and plays-a-noted-bisexual-character Aisha Dee will star in a Netflix movie together called Plus/Minus.

+ Speaking of Aisha Dee’s noted bisexual character, here’s a teaser about Kat/Adena from an upcoming episode of The Bold Type.

+ Gloria Calderón Kellett cast Isis King in her new Amazon series because she loves us and knows we want to keep writing about her work.

+ Diana Taurasi is going to be in Space Jam 2 which is great because it gave me a better reason to include this trailer in this roundup than “I’m gay and I like it so there!”

+ Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist got cancelled, probably because it didn’t make that one coder girl into a lesbian like I specifically requested. Hopefully Alex Newell will be singing on our TVs again soon.

+ The Flame, a queer musical comedy podcast, starring Jasmine Savoy Brown among others has officially launched

+ Teen Vogue tackled the topic of queer fandom

  1. I’m very interested in Fear Street, but I have a few…questions. It looks like the curse on the town originates when a bunch of Puritans hang two women for being witches (and lesbians). So why does it seem like the victims in 1978 and 1994 are the lesbians?
