“Living here and having grown up here you almost forget it’s so different. I never had to worry about walking down the street with my girlfriend holding my hand. And if this show — if me coming out — helps one person, then it was worth it.”
Updates on Jennifer Beals, Laurel Holloman, Kate Moennig, Mia Kirshner, Leisha Hailey, Rachel Shelley, Janina Gavankar, Elizabeth Keener, Marlee Matlin, Lauren lee Smith, Holland Taylor, Clementine Ford, Rose Rollins, Erin Daniels, The L Word Movie and more! Also, where’s JAMES? Why’s everyone pregnant?
“Vampire sex on the bloody deathbed of a flapper wannabe who is still gushing from her neck?! This is why I watch this show, Allan! Thank you!” (and also: Nurse Jackie, Weeds, My Life on the D List, Intervention, Drop Dead Diva, 10 Things I Hate About You, Better off Ted, and TWO Hot Girls of the week)
Methodology: For GLAAD’s third annual report, we divided our analysis of reports into two sections (network & cable) and found neither section provided statistics that specifically addressed lesbian, gay and transgender characters as independent groups, therefore requiring us to read every word to get some info about the ladies. We suspect this decision was made because lumping gays, lesbians, transpeople and bisexuals together makes it less depressing.
The entire team pitches in to recap True Blood, Ten Things I Hate About You, Masterchef Australia, Intervention, Nurse Jackie, Weeds, Gimme Sugar, Ruby Rose’s new project “The 7 PM Project,”
A haiku for Kathy Griffin, a Top Ten List of Weird Things That Happened on Weeds, onomatopoeia for Nurse Jackie, and visual representations of all of our feelings, plus the Hot Girl of the Week … also, C-Tron has “this idea to create and produce and star in a show called “So You Thought You Could Dance?”. “
“You have to break the shell, be okay with who you are regardless of the cameras and know that there’s someone out there who’s gonna relate to you. There’s no character space so if you’re not yourself that shuts off the whole reason for reality TV. Especially when it’s something about lesbians — that’s for everyone, even for gay boys, we’re fighting for visibility.”
“Things got really super weird last week, then got really super amazing this week. “
“See … I’m a little behind regarding the going-ons of this show because ’til just last year, I hadn’t even seen it. Some could say that makes me a lousy lesbian but in my defense, Australian free TV only aired the first season which’s why “this train’s running so late for lezzie town.””
Better off Ted is back, Su-Su-Sucio is gone, everyne died, So You Think You Can Dance is pretty & bendy & talented, The Real Housewives cried and Nurse Jackie hits close to home.
If you forget the whole child-rape-flashback thing, the Papa Porter dying thing, the Helena-wasting-time-Tina-could-be-with-Bette thing, the paper-dolls/Baruch Atah LaLa Hoolehay Heeyhoooo thing, the Marc pantsing himself thing (when he really should just write “fuck me” on his chest) and the Jenny/Random Elder thing, Loud and Proud is one of the series’ best episodes. Let me rephrase this: if “The L Word” was “The Dana & Alice Show,” Loud and Proud would be one of THAT show’s best episodes.
“I don’t know if I properly stressed how awesome Nurse Jackie is when I wrote about the pilot last time, so let me clarify: THIS SHOW IS AWESOME. It’s amazing, seriously. The 2nd episode was even better than the first! Jackie is another example of a strong female role from a network who seems to specialize in strong female roles lately.”
“The Tony Awards aired on Sunday night, and not only were they gayest thing on TV all week, they were probably the gayest thing on TV ever.” Leisha Hailey’s on Maneater and Carly makes her roommate watch for her, Showtime debuts Nurse Jackie and the new season of Weeds, SYTYCD gets dykey haircuts.
“Obsessed is a new show on A&E that documents people living with debilitating forms of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder and follows them while they attempt to rid themselves of their obsessions and compulsions. This is obvs my new favorite show. Confession time: I have OCD. “
“We’ll comb desperately and hungrily through minutes upon minutes of storylines we don’t care about on shows we’ve never seen before — aliens! middle schoolers! telenovelas! big brother 10! — to reach the two-minute morsel we care about more than we probably should: the holy grail of promised homosexual content.”
“This should be obvious, but GLEE IS THE BEST THING EVER. Srsly, you guys. It’s soooooo good. The only crappy thing is that we have to wait until the fall to see more episodes!”
Homosexy Fanny Pak upped the ante on MTV’s “America’s Best Dance Crew” with their hip, stylish and progressive style. Robin shoots Matt, Glenda, Phillip, Tiffani, Barracuda, Beau and Megan.
Check out these hot NewNowNext pics in anticipation of our full coverage. Speaking of coverage, did you see the obliques on that Paradiso Girl?
This week, Carlytron covers a bunch of season finales, including the best rundown ever of how Grey’s Anatomy has gone “L-Word level crazy,” and geeks out over the premiere of Real Housewives: New Jersey.
Grey’s Anatomy’s EPIC 100th episode featured a wedding (shockingly NOT Mer/Der, but Iz/Al!), the most tragic college graduation of all time, and LOTS OF LESBIAN SCENES. Thank you, Grey’s writers, for finally indulging us a tad bit. You played hard to get for a long time but here we are.
