I strive to be an intelligent, articulate, well-rounded, and progressive woman full of fire, positive energy, curiosity, and kindness. I have dedicated life to serving others, teaching, and broadening my horizons.
I am currently working towards a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with a minor in Psychology and a Certificate in Family Studies. I plan to pursue Master degrees and a Ph. D in Gender Studies. Working for the health and welfare of women and other oppressed groups is fulfilling, meaningful, and I wouldn’t trade it for the world! My ultimate goal is to become a Certified Professional Midwife and college-level Gender Studies Educator.
After experiencing a surprise and unplanned pregnancy with a partner that was less than interested in participating in my or my child’s life, I battled severe depression and anxiety. It was then that I became a student of Yoga, as well as gravely interested in managing my disorders in a natural manner, via dieting and meditation. Faced with a tumultuous pregnancy, riddled with financial hardship, emotional abuse, and the loss of my grandmother, as well as the immense pressure of being responsible for another human being’s life and health, I began to extensively research every aspect of parenting and became incredibly intrigued with maternal health, childbirth, and natural/non-violent/attachment parenting. As a result, I started my own birth services business, “Burning Bra Birth Services”, offering holistic education to mothers to be on various aspects of childbirth, breastfeeding, vaccinations, infant circumcision, and other elements of evidence-based/peaceful parenting.
My goal as the owner of Burning Bra Birth Services is to offer support to other women who are experiencing single motherhood as low-income and to empower these women with information and resources that can enhance their lives. No woman, regardless of her social status, religion, color, or age should experience a pregnancy feeling alone, misinformed, and deprived of resources detrimental to her and her child’s health and happiness.
If activism was a college major, my concentrations would be Feminism and Sex Positivity! I am Pro-Choice, Pro-Consent, Pro-Sexual Diversity, Pro-LGBTQIAP+ Rights, Pro-BDSM, Pro-Kink, Pro-Sex Workers’ Rights, Pro-Feminist Porn, Pro-Non-Conforming Sexualities, Pro-Polyamory, and Pro-SEX! I am forever dedicated to incorporating transnationality and intersectionality into my feminist efforts! Feminism is NOTHING without the two!
On the flip side, I am dedicated to fighting misogyny, patriarchy, sex negativity, domestic violence, racism, body shaming, human trafficking, heterosexism, transphobia, slut shaming, victim blaming, and every other form of oppression!
Being a mother, student, intern, and activist can be ridiculously draining, so my hobbies keep me sane! I enjoy yoga, pole dancing, (I am training to become a Certified Yoga Instructor and Pole Fitness Instructor), journaling, cooking, scrapbooking, crocheting, knitting, hiking, sewing, baking, styling hair, traveling, moviegoing, and most importantly, spending time with my son ….I also love to hang out with friends and throw a few back at the bar….but don’t tell anyone I said that♥
