Last week, Molly accompanied LA-based Stuzo to New York Fashion Week’s largest queer fashion show, iD, presented by dapperQ.
With the stunning Beaux-Arts Court at the Brooklyn Museum as its backdrop, eight queer designers donned their queer, trans, fat, brown and disabled models in an exclusive first look at this season’s boldest, brightest, queerest and most dapper Spring/Summer collections.
“Queer Fashion Week wasn’t just about an aesthetic. It was about our community beyond just our sexualities, about body positivity, about representation, about celebrating and supporting each other in all things queer.”
“Yes, the queers have always been a force in fashion, but they’ve been behind the scenes. Queer Fashion Week puts us in the spotlight. The mission was to showcase artists, stylists, and designers who create work for all body types and genders.”
Some important looks for Spring/Summer 2015 in no particular order: sheer stripes, mechanics’ suits, Chuck Taylors, lemon yellow, white cornflower blue and co-ordinates/suiting.
“Once my people were maligned; tonight we are the talk of the town.”
The DapperQ Fashion Show, is an act of revolt. It’s a fist in the air for dykes, queer people, gender neutral people, trans people, all the fucking fabulous beautiful people to shout We belong here and We will create our own spaces.
