Queer women’s television has grown significantly in recent years. Still, we’ve watched our best continue to be sidelined by a straight white male majority that won’t pay attention to queer stories, women’s stories, stories about people of color. Well, no more my friends!
This is groundbreaking. Women of color finally being given space to find beauty and strength and comfort in each other for once — well, those are the kind of love stories we can’t wait to hear more of.

Chapter III of “Dear White People” gives us Nia Long as Neika Hobbs in my dream job as an African-American studies professor and a beautiful self-proclaimed lesbian… but her storyline, and really the show in general, didn’t quite land for me.
