John Darnielle on International Women’s Day

You don’t have to listen to The Mountain Goats; if you want to walk around with a gaping hole through your soul, that’s your own business. But you should still know that John Darnielle is great, and a motherfucking badass, and also a badass feminist. Fun fact: I had forgotten it was International Women’s Day until I saw his twitter updates today! What a pleasant reminder.

  1. “feminism’s basic tenants are so self-evidently true that it’s actually kind of weird that people argue about it”
that’s so true, I find it strange when people (especially women) say they are not feminists or that they hate feminism. Everyone should be a feminist!

  2. i live for the mountain goats and lesbianism, so this is my perfect post. thank you, autostraddle (once again).

  3. Major thumbs up for this Team Pick. I love this man for both his gifted lyricism and his views on most things, including feminism and why R. Kelly’s ‘Ignition (Remix)’ is amazing.
