Playlist: I Am A Baby Bear Coming Out Of Hibernation

“what if grace made a playlist that was done in the persona of a baby bear ending hibernation and coming out of their cave for the first time since winter, would that make this day better” -Rachel

Hello and welcome to spring, my bear friends! Today is the first really nice day of the year w/r/t weather, and I finally feel so awake! In celebration, here is some music that I, a bear, am listening to today as I stumble out of my cave and into the rest of the world to do all the bear things I put off so I could sleep.

  1. Bro, there is no better track for Lumberday than Ellen Greene & Kristin Chenoweth singing “Birdhouse in Your Soul.”

  2. Baby bear! First thing you do after hibernation is create a playlist with the a song called ‘Independent B WORD”?! And what is this “Mother We Share” song? Doesn’t seem so loving after all that cuddle time together. We’re going to have a long talk when I get my claws around you.

  3. As Autostraddle’s friendly neighborhood Park Ranger, I must say that while I love this playlist, all this talk of hibernating bears is very triggering. I’ve spent many stressful hours debating whether or not bears actually hibernate or instead experience torpor or carnivore lethargy. I thought this was a safe space.

  4. Intern Grace, can you make a playlist titled “my kitten is on heat and acting bat shit crazy”. It’s a thing in my life right now and feel the event would be even more hilarious with themed music.

  5. Thanks for bringing up my mood! Currently listening to this in a dark sub-basement archive, but using the power of imagination to pretend I’m actually lounging around outdoors.

  6. This is absolutely wonderful…especially since I hibernate like a bear. BUT TO BE COMPLETE THIS PLAYLIST REALLY REALLY NEEDS RUSTED ROOT “SEND ME ON MY WAY!”

  7. I know I’m a couple months late to the party, but this playlist is my life right now. Like I keep playing it and walking by people who are playing songs from it. Which might be odd.
