Queer Beer Festival: It Has All The Things

Sarah’s Team Pick:

Today, Toronto is holding North America’s first ever Queer Beer Festival. The event leads into the weekend’s non-orientation-specific Festival of Beer. QBF features 70 brewers all with unique beers.

And refreshingly, the word queer isn’t just there for its rhyming value. The festival actually has something for the whole LGBTQ community, not just the G. There are a few booths focused specifically on women, and the entertainment lineup includes queerio (and Autostraddle) favorites Hunter Valentine and Lucas Silveira of The Cliks.

If you live anywhere in Toronto and don’t have plans tonight, go here! Alternatively, if you live anywhere else and have any festival-planning abilities, please create your own Queer Beer Festival. Preferably in the Detroit area, but maybe that’s just me.

Before you go! Autostraddle runs on the reader support of our AF+ Members. If this article meant something to you today — if it informed you or made you smile or feel seen, will you consider joining AF and supporting the people who make this queer media site possible?

  1. I’m appreciating the fact that this article on a beer festival is posted directly after the article about hangover cures.
    Autostraddle, you know your audience.

  2. they were selling queer beer at winnipeg pride and it was amazing. Like, it’s actually really good beer.

  3. I just got back. It was pretty awesome! Definitely hit it up next time it comes around if you missed out this year. :D

  4. DAMMIT. I have been in Toronto for the past three weeks and I missed this?? How could I have only heard about this now?
I feel so misinformed. And cheated.

  5. We have a bar here that has “Beers for Queers” every Thursday night.

I’m in Canada of course :P

  6. I can say for a fact it was great! It was exactly the same as the regular beer fest, but without the douchebags. There were ice cream floats in beer with maple syrup! And Ace of Base was there, which was HILARIOUS. Toronto has the best queer scene and the cutest dykes. For real. :-)

    • FUCK ALCOHOL, ACE OF BASE WAS THERE?! I would have travelled a million miles for that. And then I would stop when I SAW THE SIGN… informing me that I was approaching the queer beer festival.

  7. not just you.
every weekend in Detroit is a queer beer festival, but that’s just my neighborhood.
