Playlist: Let’s All Do Handstands!

I’ve officially decided handstands are queer. I mean, it’s a way of queering regular standing. And therefore we should all do some. And we should all do some to this music– some of it is circus-related, some of it’s even handstand related. Some of it is exactly how you feel while doing a handstand (Zero to Hero, Love This Pain.) And some of it is just plain good music to do handstands to.

Have you never done a handstand before? I highly recommend you learn how (but as with every other kind of dangerous exercise, consult a doctor first because I’m not one, make sure you know how to do a handstand properly, understand the risks, use mats, and take a class.) Here’s an example!

Still need convincing? Watch this amazing trainer from Equinox do a series of hand-balancing-type-things I can only dream about accomplishing! (Did I mention she’s in her underwear?! But more importantly she’s badass.)

Pro tip: the song from this video is in the playlist.

  1. Not being able to do a handstand is one of my biggest regrets from childhood!! Okay not really, but I still would love to be able to do one. Time to consult the videos and listen to the inspirational music- especially the Hercules and Mulan songs!
