22 Sweet Pies To Warm Your Heart (And Belly) This Fall

It’s PIE SEASON! As Maree said last week about pie: “it’s the best.” Truly y’all, I love a good pie, especially in the fall. There’s nothing better than a cool night with all your windows open and a warm oven permeating smells of butter, sugar, and maybe even fruit. Pie is the purest substance known to folks and gentlefolks throughout the ages. Like, pumpkin pie is literally just a pumpkin spice latte embodied as food that I can eat after Thanksgiving dinner! What a world we live in!

These pies have you covered for all your fall needs. I’ve also got you covered for the best part of a pie: the crust. And on that front, our criminal genius friend Martha Stewart has got us covered.  A good crust leads to a great pie, and a great pie leads to a happy belly and heart. Make one of these for your sweetie, your mom, your vegan/gluten free gal pal, or your cat (don’t do that) and be glad that we aren’t in the depths of summer anymore!

  1. I literally searched for “pie recipes” in AS’s archives yesterday, lookin for sweet fall pies. Thanks, Alaina, you read my mind! I think I’ll try the caramel pear pecan one…

  2. I wonder which one will calm the extreme nervousness I am suddenly having about getting married. Like will the Bourbon Buttermilk Pie ever have enough alcohol to slap me in the face and fill me with the warm and fuzzies so I can tell the world I love my future wife. I need the most comforting pie for wedding jitters. It just hit me that my mom is going to see me kiss another woman for the first time. Bourbon pie here I come.

  3. I feel sugar jitters just looking at these!

I sent spouse to a pie making class a few years ago (she likes the kind of thing) and she has become obsessed- I think pie is best for detail oriented earth signs who care a lot about making people happy to have the mental energy to make a fucking pie crust without crying.

Pie crust is really hard! So now I make cakes, but I will mutter to my dear about bourbon buttermilk pie and maybe it will happen to me.

Also when she was making pie crust at 11pm once and was whacking it with a rolling pin (to laminate it?) and neighbors called to be like um is everything ok also could you stop that and we were like sorry gay sex + making pie SUPER LOUD sorry to bother you.

(Obvi not having sex I was in the other room probably knitting, I just try to insinuate that’s what’s happening whenever neighbors are like “why so loud” or “are you two sisters” or “you never mow your lawn” and junk like that)
