For Transgender Day of Remembrance, I went to the City of West Hollywood’s event and talked to some of the community and those elected to serve about what TDoR means to them, what they’re doing to fight for the living, and what we can do every day.

Those who commit violence against members of the LGBT community will no longer be able to hide behind “gay panic” and “trans panic,” at least in California.
“There are a thousand ways to die from being trans. But they’re only included if they can be made as sensationalist as possible. Never mind that all these things kill you just the same.”
The Third Committee of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) made great strides in terms of LGBT rights when it voted to keep sexual orientation and include gender identity in a resolution condemning executions for reasons of discrimination.
