Sarah’s Team Pick: GayTravel.com is Awesome for Gays that Travel

You guys probably know about GayTravel.com already because it’s awesome and really useful, but we wanted to make sure it’s on your radar. We like GayTravel for a lot of reasons, including their inclusion of womens’ events, their no-nonsense reviews, their avoidance of gay website-design cliches, and their understanding that gay travel is about queer-friendly places as well as queer-specific events.

This week, GayTravel.com is partnering with Autostraddle and sending me to Whistler to cover WinterPride 2011 Ski Week. I know, it almost seems too good to be true, but as sure as I am on an airplane right now, it is indeed true.

I suspect it will be just like that one episode of The L Word [312], without anyone getting stood up at their Big Gay Canadian wedding, or like Dinah Shore except in the winter (uh huh there’s this whole Women’s Party Thing going on too).

Look out for a review of the weekend at Whistler next week. It’s a bit late to grab yourself tickets to gay ski week (BUT THERE’S ALWAYS NEXT YEAR), but Whistler is a great gay vacation spot all the time. It’s #2 on GayTravel’s list of best places to visit.

And there’ll probably be a few less people there after the whole Outdoor Adventures boycott, too, which might work out in your favour.

  4. Everyone who grew up in the Pacific Northwest knows that Whistler’s snow is overrated… that being said, skiing + pride = win!

  5. ok so this doesn’t have to do with skiing, but it does have to do with gay travel, because i’m gay and i will be traveling! in a month, to brooklyn with my best friend and i was wondering if you guys had any tips or suggestions and awesome gay bars that i should check it. neither of hus has been to nyc before, so any and all advice is greatly appreciated :)

  6. i’m going to montreal and toronto (form nyc) in less than two weeks. any tips? preferably nothing that has to do with skiing, and anything that has to do with gayness.

  7. This is an awesome website for gay travel. This is another awesome website for lesbian gravel: http://www.girlports.com. However neither is particularly useful for a girl going to Italy for the summer. Any advice? Thoughts? Are there any Italian autostraddlers here?

  8. Jasper Pride is next weekend if you really want a winter pride excursion and its half the price and double the fun of stuffy whistler pride!
