This is me. Thanks for talking about it. I think it helps to say/draw this out loud. My ma says “keep the home fires burning” and “Do not be daunted by the enormity of the world’s grief. Do justly, now. Love mercy, now. Walk humbly now. You are not obligated to complete the work, but neither are you free to abandon it” – the Talmud. We take turns on the hard stuff, and when it’s our turn to rest its our duty to rest well and find and nurture the good and soft and slow things in ourselves, our friends, mama nature. That way when we’ve rested and take our next turn at the work, we are stronger and our whole selves know what we’re working towards – more of the good stuff for all the beings.
I too was needing to see this comic today. And I enjoyed misreading your quote replacing work with world… I think I will stay with my mistaken Talmud!
Thank you for this important reminder!
