Crystal’s Team Pick: ‘Gay Like Happy’ Mixtape

Two talented queer DJs, Dr Sleep (San Francisco) and Campbell (London), have created a slammin’ dance mixtape, Gay Like Happy, and have made it available as a free download.

Dr Sleep explains “it’s authentically mixed by us, so it’s not a string of favorite hits or remixes – it’s accapellas and instrumentals we dug through our crates for and rearranged into what we think is pretty campy-gay-fun.” I’m inclined to agree. The tape, which I feel must’ve taken forever to compile, is chock full of mash ups from a ton of artists we love (P!nk, La Roux and Peaches to name a few),  chopped with some amazing queer soundbites from Sandra Bernhard, kd lang and more. Go check it out.

  1. This mixtape is perfect for dancing around my apartment, especially the remix with the “history of lesbianism.”

    Thanks, Crystal!
