Autostraddle cannot exist without the generous support of our readers. We're running the fundraiser through March 29th! We're out of immediate danger...but we had to ask...what if we could survive for longer? Will you help?

  1. Being portuguese as well, I could not click this article fast enough.
I am now living outside the country, and therefore was not able to attend the pride parade, but I was glad to read that the number of participants is increasing :)

really nice article! loved the “CHEGAY” x)

  2. Yay for queer Portuguese babes! Growing up in a Portuguese household in a Portuguese community in the U.S., for the longest time I had no idea that it was even possible for Portuguese people to be gay. I had to do some serious google searching to find even the slightest references to gay people in Portugal, which annoys me considering Portugal has some pretty progressive laws about LGBT people. As you can probably anticipate, I am extremely excited about this comic. Well done!

  3. This was incredible! Such awesome drawings and loved hearing about your experiences! My girlfriend and I will be visiting Portugal, any lgbt places/bars/events you would recommend?

Also is it acceptable to be out/show affection in much of Portugal outside of Lisbon?

    thanks, love this!
