Riese’s Team Pick: The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl

Are you awkward? Are you black? Are you a girl? If you are one, both, all, or none of those things, you will like “The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl,” the best webseries I’ve seen since Haviland & Riese did those random vlogs like in the 90s. Seriously even when my internet connection got screwed up, resulting in YouTube only playing two seconds of the show at a time, I still sat there, laughing in staccato, waiting for each subsequent second of amusement to reveal itself to me!

Created by Issa Rae, “The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl” follows the title character and friends as she navigates through life, love and awkward situations.”

  1. I was wondering when you guys were going to do an article on this web series! It is absolutely hilarious. I watched a marathon for the second time last night and woke up every one in the house laughing…oops. :)

  2. from ep 2:
“I would love to express that to her.” [in her mind: SHUT UP…SHHH….SHUT UUUUUP. Seriously. What’s wrong with you? What the fuck is wrong with you?] “But, I’m passive aggressive, and I hate confrontation.”

    story of my life

  3. I am in love.

It’s like you decided to follow my tumblr and made a personalized recommendation. Or maybe you heard from Croce that I’m as awkward as an awkward turtle on a fucking beach resort named Smiley Smilington.

I have hope now. There are other people out there. Now if only, the awkward black AND queer girl could make a cameo on this/a webseries… UNICORN PLAN-IT anyone???? (lmfao)
