Wow, I’m surprised anyone would think we’ve been “normalized”. Not by a long shot. Our existence is a defiant raspberry every second of every day. It makes me wonder, has your acquaintance somehow gated herself to be in a perpetual safe space ? Because it seems to me she should know better, just by being non cis-male.

Thank you for this. I see a bit among cis lgbq people on tumblr, and of course from Republican supporting lgbtq people. It’s a bit frustrating.
That should have said cis white lgbq people. In fact I saw a call out post on a white tumblr who ids a lesbian and now has joined the white nationalist organization. Her reasoning is that they care more about women than the rest of the LGBTQ community does because are trying to move and focus on marginalized people, and she is a transphobe.
everyone in a privileged group is an idiot until they aren’t. thanks for trying. it’ll probably get through at some point.
I have never ceased to be amazed at some people’s ability to proceed through life with their head firmly up their bum. Perhaps it’s because it’s warm and dark and it stops them being frightened?
Also normality within capitalism still really sucks
I had nearly this exact conversation a year ago with my parents after we saw Moonlight together. I nearly self-combusted with my need to explain to them, and definitely get yelled at by my mother for raising my voice to her in public.
Good for you for trying, but please don’t feel bad for not being able to adequately explain or get through to her. Some people are just never going to get it, but we do our best, to the extent that we’re able.
