Pop Culture Fix: Queer Romance Is the Heart of Doctor Who’s Easter Special

I’ve spent the last few days getting caught up on The Owl House, and dang, cartoons really continue to do queerness best of all! I’ve got a reviewing coming for you soon! And also I have a Pop Culture Fix for you!

+ JoJo Siwa is joining the judging panel on So You Think You Can Dance.

+ Cynthia Erivo is the “woman who found bite marks on her skin” in Roar.

+ There’s a couple more glimpses of America Chavez in the new Doctor Strange trailer, and I remain, firmly, Team Wanda.

+ Here’s the trailer for season two of The Wilds! Bad news: there’s boys. Good news: there’s still girls kissing!

+ Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda share heartfelt moments in the final promo images for Grace & Frankie.

+ Derry Girls fans have noticed all the characters wearing rainbow pins in support of their wee lesbian in the final season.

  1. I’m pretty nervous about that OB reboot. I am in love with the first iteration (though it had its faults), and I have been quite enjoying the podcast OB: Next Chapter, especially with the lovely voice of Evelyne Brochu back for season 2.
I just hope they can keep it true to its roots.

Also, Tatiana Maslany will forever be my one and only, clone-wise. Her acting skills are bananas.

  2. Also – I’m not watching Dr Who at the moment, so I’m not sure- did the doctor ever have a relationship with a man? And if not, why not?
Is it because if she had one, would it somehow feel “like two men” to people (the doctor who has always been male, now in the body of a woman, but still the same person)?
Are they doing a relationship with a woman because it somehow feels less threatening?
