Description: Join us for the 2019 Dyke Day FREE Pride Picnic in the park! We are back in Elysian park for our 12th year and we are so excited to see you in your rainbow finery again! We’ll have DJ’s, food trucks, a bounce house, LEZATHLON, Everybody, a Kink Education Tent, Puppy Parade, Face Painting and MORE!

Visit our community tables to gather info on what this beautiful community offers you all and see all your friends, your exes, your exes exes and get some sunshine in your eyes!

PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN SHADE COVERAGE. Umbrellas, pop ups, tents, princess castles…WHATEVER. We can not all sit in the bushes along the side of the park because it is a hazard if the fire department needs to come in, or if the medic on site needs to reach someone. Please bring your own shade coverage and PLAN for the long sun over the bowl of Leo Politi. Picnic areas will be cordoned off and managed this year, and it will be first come, first serve for set up. Arrive early if you are seriously attached to picking your spot.

If you bring your fine canine friends, please be advised that it is a city ordinance that you MUST have your dog on a leash.

Accessibility Info: Dyke Day LA is hosted at a city park and as such, we are doing our best to make it as accessible as possible within the scope of our control. The park offers first come, first serve accessible parking at the top of the driveway into Leo Politi. There is a pathway without stairs that leads down to the grass. There is also a paved patio area if you prefer a hard surface, where there are picnic tables and restrooms in closer proximity It is spacious and you can participate without having to be in the middle of the busy lawn area if that’s not comfortable or does not meet your needs.

Leo Politi is at the top of a hill and requires a vehicle to get up to the top if you need accessible parking, however Elysian Park offers accessible marked parking throughout the park and we offer a great drop off location.

Many folks ride-share, or have a friend or friends drive them up to the location and drop them and picnic gear off and then drive back down and walk up. Lyft and Uber also have a drop off area at the top of the hill.

While Dyke Day would love to offer transportation specifically for this event, it is not currently possible due to our grassroots, non-profit status and the insurance needs that shuttles would require. We are doing our best every year to consider as many options for comfortable traffic flow and control on the hill and will always do our best to help everyone in our community participate in this amazing, free East Side Pride event!
