Riese’s Team Pick: Taylor Swift Is Always Surprised

I never want to talk about Taylor Swift ever again for the rest of my life ever. Buttt then my favorite blogger fourfour made this video and I thought you might enjoy it.

  1. I think Taylor Swift’s music is trite and immature.

But I sing along to it and every time I see her I just want to hug her.

    Is that weird?

    • I understand you completely. I just can’t dislike her she’s so cute…(I believe I might have a crush on her.)

  2. omg riese we have the same favorite blogger!!

i love rich and his antm recaps and his music commentary and his winston

    • I got through maybe the first thirty seconds, so you did better than me. I wonder if she’s been coached in that particular surprise face.

      • IT’S THE SAME FACE! All the instances started blurring together plus they were playing her music which makes sense, because she was winning stuff, but I couldn’t handle all of it.

Not liking Taylor Swift makes me feel like a bad person. Almost like I’m hating on a puppy, but I just can’t.

        • I kept waiting for some kind of variation on the theme, and it just didn’t happen.

I don’t particularly like her either, but I don’t think we’re bad people. Just because you don’t want the puppy in your house doesn’t mean someone should call the ASPCA, you know?

I’m half waiting for this thread to explode with the vitriol of rabid TSwift fans. Really hoping that doesn’t happen.

  3. i just wanna say, t-swift, gives the best bj faces EVER. i wonder why, i mean, whhhaaaaaaaaat?!?!

  4. Could only watch about 30 seconds…there’s no way I could slog through all that sticky sweet fake emotion and pretend ditziness for 3 minutes…

    • I lasted for a minute. Ugh… Although if you made a video of my reaction to Taylor Swift you would see my eyes rolling every time. She is just so ridiculously overrated and undeserving I feel bad for all of her peers.

  5. Setting aside all the Post-Twilight Anti-Feminism-as-Feminism Ur-Doin-It-Wrong Stuff, just trying to objectively assess her as a Pop-Country Musician…I just can’t figure out what the big deal is. I’m not even saying, like, she’s mediocre compared to Radiohead or Morissey or Ani or Metallica or whatever, I’m saying social commentary aside, Miley Cyrus makes more compelling music than Taylor Swift. By a small margin, but still.
Maybe Taylor is aware of how mediocre she is.
    Maybe that’s why she’s so surprised. o_o

  6. “What?!” Let stick a lollipop in there. Or maybe a sausage to fill that wide open void. “OMG. Ahhh! You guys love me? This can’t be real!” Really, Swifty, every one is just as surprised as you, because most people don’t get recognized for being tone deaf and lame. It’s like affirmative action for the wholesome white girl who sings about nonsense because no one else is shameless enough to do that.

  7. Those reactions would be fine if she was still brand new to success. It’s also important to remain thankful and not start feeling entitled to awards. However, she’s been acting “surprised” in the exact same way for years now. It’s so fake.

BTW, when her new album came out and there was a track called “Better Than Revenge” I actually got excited. I thought maybe, even just once, she’d show maturity and growth, but no. It’s the same old childish, hypocritical double standards and female competition. I made this video to vent my frustrations:

I find it ironic that this glorification of mean girl gossip tactics is on the same album as the feel-sorry-for-me-because-someone-said-something-not-nice-about-me track “Mean.”
