You Should Go: ModCloth’s Pop Up Fit Shop Comes to San Francisco

Bay Area Straddlers and general ModCloth enthusiasts take note: between July 30th and August 17th, you can go to a store in Union Square and try on ModCloth’s vintage-inspired dresses, skirts, tops, and outerwear in person! In an effort to expand business and find new ways to reach out to and interact with their customers, ModCloth is experimenting with pop-up stores — known as a Fit Shop — in major US cities. Their last event in LA was a huge success, and they’re hoping that the Fit Shop will do just as well in San Francisco.

The shopping experience will be split up into two parts: the Fit & Ship and the Grab & Go. In the Fit & Ship, you get to browse this Fit Shop’s selection of pieces from the online store, try some clothes on immediately, and then purchase them for order online. This saves the store the necessity of keeping items in stock, and you the hassle of wrangling shopping bags. You can also book a session with one of the Fit Shop’s stylists, who will not only help you pick out the best clothes for your style and preferences, but will also take your measurements to make sure that you end up buying the right size. The ModCloth team is dedicated to creating a fun shopping experience for women of all sizes; when designing and tailoring their pieces, they size from both a small and an XXL model, rather than scaling up from a small like many other designers. This pop-up will also feature a few pieces from their upcoming namesake collection, which will launch in the fall, and includes an excellent trench coat as well as versatile separates and, of course, dresses with pockets.

ModCloth will also offer a selection of jewelry and accessories that you can buy and take out with you, in the more traditional Grab & Go.

The San Francisco Fit Shop might only be open for three weeks, but ModCloth hopes to do more pop-up Fit Shops in more cities soon! This model is a little more sustainable than traditional brick-and-mortar stores, and they’re better able to incorporate community feedback and customer engagement. I know that y’all love ModCloth as it is, so if you happen to be around, definitely go check it out! The Fit Shop will be open in Union Square until August 17th!
