Remember when we met up in 2014 and then again in 2015 for the Feminist Majority Foundation’s National Young Feminist Leadership Conference? Those were some amazing times. We grabbed drinks, we talked about our emotions, we walked into dance parties in a hotel’s conference space defiantly and I even performed Uptown Funk before I had ever performed Uptown Funk before.
So much has happened between those times and this moment in time that we are in right now. Most notably, I moved across the country and quit my job and had a lot of emotions and started spending an inordinate amount of time with my dog. But none of that could ever keep me away from the feminist goodness that is a weekend in March spent in a few big rooms full of bad bitches.
And that’s why I’m extremely excited to tell y’all that it’s official: I’m headed back to DC for the 2016 NYFLC! And, um, duh, I wanna see you there.
This year’s conference is on March 12, 13, and 14. That’s two days in Crystal City talking organizing strategy, intersectional feminism, and movement-building and one spent on Capitol Hill making shit happen. As usual, hundreds of young feminists from colleges and universities across the country will be in attendance — as will some truly badass public figures and feminist leaders. And if you choose wisely and decide to join us, you can snag discounted rooms at the conference hotel and save on registration with the code AUTO2016! (You’ll pay just 25 bucks to get in – which matches a discounted rate for large groups that is no longer being offered to anyone else, you lucky duck!)
And because you’re the lights of my life, we’ll be meeting up on site, too, like special queermo BFFs with a treehouse that’s all our own. Only this year, we’re leveling up: I’ll be working with FMF folks and the lovely women of WIN to put together a truly bomb mixer on Saturday night to keep you entertained, networking, and probably dancing to “Hotline Bling.”
If none of this has tempted you to register yet, I’ll probably never be enough for you and we should break it off sooner rather than later. If you’re super freaking excited like me, just click here and get moving on that whole registration thing so we can be BFFs. Also, regardless of which end of this spectrum you just landed on, will you please cross your fingers that it’s warm in DC by March 12, 13, and 14? I’m way too West Coast for that 40 degrees shit now.
