I am very nervous about the Queer as Folk adaptation, as the original Queer as Folk is something that I love so very much, flaws and all. Plus the fact that Peacock is doing it makes me think it’s going to be very watered down. We’ll see. Literally like the magazine said

I laughed so hard at the SNL skit, Kate is just golden. It made me a bit upset to see them bash Portrait of a lady on fire like that though. It’s a skit though, I’m not supposed to take it so literally.
I think they were really just bashing Ammonite. The whole storyline of the spoof is Ammonite, plus the graphic sex scene and male director.
Nova I felt the same! A bit of the music in the skit (when they’re walking in the hall with candles) sounded like the group of women singing in Portrait and I was like “how dare you mock this sacred text” (!!) 😭 I appreciate the clarification too, Ava. I haven’t watched Ammonite yet, but— as the skit says— I’m gonna watch it, and probably next year’s lesbian period piece too. 🙃
I don’t think they were bashing Portrait of a Lady on Fire, it just got mentioned because it is another period piece with cliffs. Surely, even Celine Sciamma would have laughed at this.

Who here has seen Shiva Baby? It was so stressful but so so good! Although I died when Molly Gordon’s character said Dianna Agron’s character was who she wanted to be “in 15 years”. SHE IS MY EXACT AGE. Time to build myself a funeral pyre I guess!!!
To clarify: Dianna Agron and I were both born in April 1986. And just a few years she was playing a high schooler. I’m technically 35 but feel as aimless (if not more so???) as I did in my early 20s. Time is a vicious mistress.

The director of Ammonite is a gay man, a fact that I think makes the gag about how ~graphic~ the sex scene is honestly… quite gross :)
