The Comment Awards Are Nailing A Ring To My Door

Hello, hi, we made it through the week! A week in which I have thought about Finley’s button-ups at least once per day. Do you think LA carries Wildfang in its thrift shops? Because those shirts are NOT cheap.

This week, Christina wrote about the things your therapists probably wishes they could tell you.

Kamala’s inviting us into her Dyke Kitchen, a series I can’t wait to dive into.

I DON’T KNOW IF YOU KNOW THIS, BUT SOME IMPORTANT THINGS HAPPENED ON THE L WORD: GENERATION Q THIS WEEK. It’s fine, I’m fine!

Speaking of Generation Q, Drew’s got a suggestion for how the series could truly flourish in Season 2.

This is such a fantastic resource: Martin Luther King Day Roundtable: What’s In Your Black Justice Toolkit?

Batwoman is getting…even gayer???

For You Need Help, Archie answered a letter writer who has been feeling drawn to cheat on their partner. This writing, and advice, was SO GOOD.

New writers are here! New writers are here!

Jehan’s got a new series called Year of Our (Audre) Lorde,  and I’ve never been more excited.

Then there were your comments!

On The L Word: Generation Q Episode 107 Recap: Lose It All:

The Generation Quiara Award to liz:

Does Generation Q stand for Generation Quiara? She’s so beautiful

And the Nailed It! Award to Reilly:

The look on Gigi’s face when she topped Nat though? She can nail a ring to my house any day so long as she nails me after

On “Batwoman” Showunner Caroline Dries on That Big Coming Out Episode and What’s Next For Our Lesbian Caped Crusader:

The What’s Next? Award to Kristana and BettyOnIt:

Kristana: Do Kara take that picture? Because that’s the only person I see Kate posing for. ...Do Kara take it? God, I sound like I'm drunk. /BettyOnIt: I think you’re just answering the question on the cover “what’s next for Lena?

On “The L Word: Generation Q” Should Change Its Mind About Trans Actresses Playing Cis Characters:

The Hiring Committee Award to Snow:

Hire a trans lesbian writer for season two – we’re out here and eager to tell our stories.

On What Can Black Queer People Learn From the Lost Queer Joy of the Civil Rights Movement?

The Real Joy Award to Natalie:

This day affirms, probably more than anything else, that people still don’t know that MLK was human so you were ahead of the curve in learning that in college, Carmen. It’ll take your post as a challenge…not just to allow myself joy but to not feel guilty when I do. Thank you for sharing this.

On I Loved “Sex Education” Season Two — I Wish It Loved Me Back:

The Generosity of Spirit Award to leep:

Drew, you write so thoughtfully and generously, even about media that’s thoughtless and/or cruel. It really makes me think about what I could do to approach the world that way, thank you for it.

On Meet Autostraddle’s Newest Writers!

The ArachnIconic Award to tentaclerental:

Della Champagne the gender-yeeting tarantula sounds like a queer icon, tbh

On No Filter: Bella Thorne Celebrates Mental Health, The Vida Cast Looks Amazing and Gigi Gorgeous Serves Fashion:

The All-Star Award to Annelise:

That photo of Katie Sowers and Jimmy G is officially wayyyyy too much for my little bisexual heart to handle

  1. Help can someone please tell me what “yeeting” means, because I am an old and I don’t understand and Urban Dictionary is just confusing me more

    • yeet (verb) – to throw an object away with force, usually used for comedic effect

“Did you see her yeet that bottle into the trash?”
“I can’t believe I embarrassed myself like that, just yeet me into the sun.”

  2. glad my thirst for Katie Sowers (and Jimmy G) resonated with others.

Katie has been steadily climbing in my celebrity crush ranks, nearing the top with Ashlyn Harris…definitely don’t have a type at all lol

  3. Okay, I keep seeing Emily Andras making all of these comments in support of Supercorp, so next time Autostraddle does an interview with her I need them to ask her about it.
