The Carmilla Movie Trailer Is Here to Break Your Brain and Set Your Heart on Fire

If, on Saturday, you heard what you thought was the sound of a thousand queer humans shouting and then crashing to the floor as they fainted away like a bunch of goats, you were correct. That’s exactly what you heard. The noise came from Canada, where Toronto FanExpo was in full swing, and the source of the ecstasy and agony was the release of teaser for The Carmilla Movie, which stars your queer favorites, Elise Bauman and Natasha Negovanlis.

It is … surprising! All in good ways! For starters, it’s bizarre and delightful to see a camera moving around these characters instead of sitting stationary like the webcam format of the web series. The production values are much higher than I expected. Dominique Provost-Chalkley (Waverly Earp!) is everywhere. And lord, the nostalgia. The series hasn’t been gone long enough for the movie trailer to set my heart on fire like this, but here we are! Also, apparently, TIME TRAVEL. It’s sexy and weird and sexy and pretty and sexy and sexy.

The Carmilla Movie lands on October 26, just in time for Halloween!

  1. I thought that I had this major revelation that Dominique Provost-Chalkley’s character is Elle, Mircalla’s first love, but apparently everybody else had that same thought as well.

    • My theory is that she may be Elle, but she’s also Laura somehow, or Laura inhabits her body somehow (check out how they have the same hairstyle and white dress with brooch at the throat in the trailer, and check out that mirror scene where Dominique is waving her fingers at the mirror… as if to check that the reflection is really her).

  2. I finally watched the webseries this summer and thought it was pretty good. But this trailer…. Wooooowwww. The movie looks amazing! I am really looking forward to it now :D

  3. does this trailer make anyone else think of the bob’s burgers episode where they do like a downton abbey sleepover and linda has to work as a servant or is that just me

like time travel didn’t even occur to me i was just like, a rich person is making them wear period costumes in their mansion for some reason

  4. Whenever I think Carmilla, Lords of Shadow is always the first thing on my mind. Sally Knyvette’s voice acting was absolutely superb.

  5. Two things I noticed:
    1) Laf has both their eyes. Robot eye?!
    2) No Danny. Is she in the movie at all? Her fate was left pretty up in the air if I remember the 3rd season correctly. She just wanders off before the final battle.

    • 2) I’ve heard reports that Sharon Belle was on the set for the last day of shooting. It’s possible that she arrives as a set-up for a second movie. I like to think that she comes to get the Widow so that Dominique Provost-Chalkley has another tol redhead in her life.

  6. Guys this show is awesome and I’m the biggest fanboi (no, autocorrect, I did not spell that wrong)

  7. I’m so in love with the fact that this whole show (and now the film) was created with a sole audience in mind: (baby) queers. I mean, they cast Dominique Provost-Chalkley, whose make-out sessions & cheerleader routines are probably the #1 most reblogged Tumblr gifsets since Lexa laid one on Clarke.
As we all know, things that really, truly aim to please US are so very rare, which makes me appreciate Carmilla and its intentions all the more.

  8. Finally a date for the Carmilla movie, much lesbian action, LaFontaine, Perry and the others are back and DOMINIQUE PROVOST-CHALKLEY is in the movie too??
    *droooollllssss*

Damn, but if Dominique’s in the movie too, I cannot stop thinking: “How dare you, why do you cheat on officier dimples.“ xD

  9. this webseries was the one that made me realise that maybe i wasn’t the default straight i’d always thought i was, so seeing this come back after it had been gone nearly as long as i’d been aware of it meant one huge bundle of emotions and i am a mess

  10. oh jeez….I thought my interest in the series had calmed down after it was over on YouTube, but I’m so into this…

  11. I’ve watched this a…few times already. I can’t wait. Also, Dominique can break my heart with just one look, apparently.
