That’s So Raven Symoné Actually Got Gay Married

It’s a fairy tale as old as time — young girl becomes a childhood television star instantly recognizable to an entire generation, then she grows up and is gay, and then she gets married to the love of her life while wearing a black suit, studded combat boots, and rainbow braids down her back.

Congratulations to Raven Symoné (government name: Raven-Symoné Christina Pearman). The news broke today that she’s married Miranda Maday, “a woman who understands me from trigger to joy, from breakfast to midnight snack.” Girl LISTEN — a love that goes from breakfast to midnight snack? May we all be so lucky.

The couple exchanged their vows in a small backyard ceremony, because madam Corona won’t allow for large gatherings (except for the necessary protests to save black lives and overthrow the government). “Thank you to all those who helped and for those who understand why it was small during this time,” Raven wrote on her Instagram.

Miranda is a social media manager who ironically doesn’t have much of a social media presence. Prior to their nuptials neither woman previously posted about their epic romance, which is definitely something I think any of us who have spent hours deleting the photos of our exes from our IG grids could probably stand to learn more about.

Those of us who were out and about in the early 2010s might remember Raven Symoné’s prolonged coming out process that started with many shrouded rumors of the former child star bedding women across Manhattan and her many public denials of that fact. Gossip back then in the ye olde days was a shady, dirty business — no one deserves to be publicly outed against their will. When Raven finally publicly came out on her own terms in 2013, we celebrated with cries of “That’s So Gayven!” in the streets, a true song of the people (the people being queer women of a certain age who watched a lot of The Disney Channel as children).

Speaking of the Disney Channel, if you’ve never seen the That’s So Raven spin-off Raven’s Home, though Raven Symoné is not officially gay in it —she shares an apartment with her childhood best friend Chelsea and together they are raising their three kids, who all refer to each other as brother and sister. If you’re ever looking for pleasant childhood nostalgia noise to nurse your hangover while you eat soggy cereal on a couch one quiet Sunday morning in your underwear, there are worst ways to spend your time.

All of that now brings us here: A storybook ending that’s as beautiful the Cinderella’s Castle that the House of Mouse was built on.

Congratulations to Mrs. Raven Symoné Pearman Maday and Mrs. Miranda Maday Pearman. Y’all really did that. I hope your honeymoon at Disneyland is one for the ages.
