Team Pick: Let’s All Go to Barbie and Kendra’s Wedding

Carmen’s Team Pick:

When I was a kid, playing with Barbie and attempting to build her the perfect life was one of my favorite activities. There were only two basic steps involved: Make Barbie as successful and powerful as possible and immediately get rid of Ken. What my tiny child brain never realized was how much more fabulous things would be if Kendra was involved.

‘Til right fucking now, y’all.

Because in an attempt to create Barbie’s dream gay wedding, a boatload of fantastic wedding vendors, stylists, bakers, and Etsy shop owners came together in New York City to shoot Barbie and Kendra’s Wedding, featuring real-life romantic duo Sabine, of Patty Wack Vintage, as Barbie and Madin, of ProjectQ, as Kendra.

The result is literally too amazing, adorable, and absolutely perfect for words.

Together, they created something that I think we can all agree is pure, unadultered magic. Honestly, if this post didn’t make you register for a Pinterest account and start planning your own wedding or the renewal of your wedding vows, I don’t think you actually looked at it.

  1. SO my first thought was WHAT ARE THE CHANCES that someone named Barbie would find someone named Kendra and they would fall in love so conveniently??

And my second thought is that this is mad cute whatever their names are!

    ALSO: those paper products!

  2. It took me a day to calm down about this and compose my thoughts.
Like I see dat 1960 Barbie eye make up reference with the later Barbie’s pink lipsticks I want to name by year or decade, but I don’t know where my book went.
And I feel like the striped dress is a nod to the original 1959 Barbie’s swimsuit.

I was such a Barbie person even in my dad’s jeans and those boots from walmart.
Barbie and Kendra’s wedding makes me so giddy from the most happy parts of my lonely screwy childhood.

  3. I had such a blast working with all the talented vendors on this super creative project and this is probably one of THE most fun videos I’ve ever shot & edited! Thanks for the feature “Autostraddle!!”

  4. congrats to this rad couple! The love exudes through the photos, Thanks for sharing!
