Sunday Funday – GLAAD ’09 Does it, Talice Does it, Adam Does it, Lez Do It!

It’s Sunday Funday! On Sunday we lay our worries to rest and focus on happy things. So, if you haven’t already, check out our White House Correspondents Dinner round-up here, cool off with some wet girls, and pick your fantasy Moms!

+ In India, gay couples “marry” with parents’ approval (@ The Times of India): “These warm, happy stories may sound unbelievable given the stream of stories of social hostility against gay people, but the fact is that same-sex marriage ceremonies have been performed in Indian households, rich and poor, and in cities and small towns alike.”

+ Because I must scope the market like Sherlock, I picked up DIVA magazine yesterday. Hello UK! Perhaps I’m the last to this party, but Rachel Shelley randomly has a sex column?:

“Across the board laughter became the best coping mechanism for sex scenes on The L Word. Leisha Hailey (Alice) and Rose Rollins (Tasha) were renowned for their uncontrollable hysterics during sex scenes. The pair of them would be half naked, literally crying with laughter, the crew standing around eating bacon butties, taking phone calls, waiting for them to recover some semblance of calm .. their laughter only added to the on-screen chemistry the two characters always radiated.”

I would’ve loved to be a sexy fly on the wall for that scene …. Shelley also dishes about shooting the legendary Helena-Dylan sex scene of Season Three — with a bat in the room. Speaking of Alexandra Heddison, Natalie is in love with her seriously.

+ GLAAD Awards San Francisco! At last!

+ Adam Lambert is on the cover of Entertainment Weekly: “There was a time not too many seasons ago when, with his mop of glam-rock cobalt-blue-on-dyed-black hair, his earring, his sneering, and his unambiguously ambiguous sexuality, Adam would have been brushed off early on …”

+ Hungary to allow domestic partnerships for same-sex couples (@ The Boston Herald/AP)

+ Justin Timberlake & Andy Samberg on SNL last night singing Motherlover, a sequel to “Dick in a Box” which I didn’t think was funny even though everyone else did. This one I like though:

+ The Advocate’‘s latest issue features 40 Under 40. Obvs life goal = Team Autostraddle for 40 Under 40 2010! This year’s list includes: cartoonist Ariel Schrag, writer Rebecca Walker, television & radio host Rachel Maddow, executive Betty Young, musician Sia,  Chef Jamie Lauren, fund-raiser Aisha C. Mills,  Internet activist Amy Balliett and transgender advocate/Real World cast member Katelynn Cusanelli.

+ Tori Amos discusses the inspiration for and meaning behind her new album, Abnormally Attracted to Sin (@ American Songwriter): ”’So why have we defined erotica as something that has to be demeaning? Why can’t erotica be in bed with spirituality?’”

+ In his weekly radio address, Maine Gov. Baldacci defends signing the gay rights bill (@ Bangor Daily News/AP) – Quote from the article: “Gov. John Baldacci says the past week will be remembered for action Maine took ‘to break down inequality.’”

+ The first same-sex couple to be wed in Massachusetts prepares to celebrate their five year wedding anniversary! (@ The Boston Herald/AP)

+ Megan Fox – is still smokin’ hot. Furthermore, is bisexual (I have some issues with what she says here but I will not dwell ’cause it’s Sunday Funday):

“I have no question in my mind about being bisexual. But I am also a hypocrite: I would never date a girl who wants to be bisexual, because that means they also sleep with men, and men are so dirty that I’d never want to sleep with a girl who had slept with a man.”

      • I thought the first two were pretty great too.. ok so no lesbian angle sadly but there was maxxie at least! great characters this time round but needs a bit more funny stuff that shows why theyre friends (outside of cook/freddie/jj anyway)

  1. i feel as though the Rachel Shelley link doesn’t work and that Andy Samberg is spelled wrong

I remember not finding the dick in the box thing funny at all and baffled at how it won and Emmy or whatever it won.

I want to tell Suze Orman about my good credit score that will soon be destroyed

I remember that day 5 years ago in Massachusetts when I was a youngin’ of 17 – it actually feels like it was longer than 5 years ago, but if its 5 years ago that means my high school reunion is this year? score.

I think you’ve already started your campaign to end up on the Top 40 Under 40 next for 2010 for sure. big things

    • also she could be in our new feature that we’ve yet to enact where a celebrity makes out with all our interns and is reviewed on a scale of 1-10

      • i am completely and totally in favor of this idea. how do we get this ball rolling?
in other news, i’m not sure if i’ve mentioned this yet, but justin timberlake is my number one feeling at least 87 percent of the time.

  2. Megan Fox is so “dumb hot”. Its hard to really love her cause she’s got the whole dumb thing going on. Oh, Megan Fox.

  3. Megan Fox should just shut up and look hot. She already can’t act and now she can’t even be a coherent person..

Oh and Riese glad you could use the pictures. I have some more coming to you! You should have posted Milfs for mothers day! :)

    • Yeah I always thought she was mega hot until I saw an interview. It was a sad day.

      • Obviously Megan would have to disagree with you Robin- because she also has this to say (I think to the same magazine)

“I don’t want to have to be like a Scarlett Johansson – who I have nothing against. But I don’t want to have to go on talk shows and pull out every single SAT word I’ve every learned to prove, like, ‘Take me seriously, I am intelligent, I can speak.’ I don’t want to have to do that. I resent having to prove that I’m not a retard – but I do. And part of it is my own fault.”

haha ,so there- wonder how she actually did on her SATs..

        • haha.. ‘i resent having to prove i’m not a retard’ classic quote. Not too happy with the slightly self-hating dirty bisexual thing, but to be honest at this point it’s so dire i’m just taking whatever bi representation i get, let alone when it comes in that hot a package.. standards have been lowered people!

  4. Oh no! Self hating dirty bisexshuls? Dire circumstances? Under represented? Standards being lowered?

Are we the snubbed culture of the sub culture?

    • lol. I may have veered to the dramatic a tad i’ll give you that.. finals may tip me over the edge! but hey it was megan who brought up the dirt transferral ;)
