Rachel’s Team Pick: Pat Robertson, Meteorologist

We wanted to write a daily fix on this but really, there’s nothing to add. Or, as Riese said, it’s “too easy.” Enjoy!

Rev. Pat Robertson sparked controversy in today’s broadcast of his 700 Club program when he claimed that God created the blizzard currently battering the Northeast “to punish Americans who were planning to drive to do something gay.”

Explaining his theory, Rev. Robertson said, “Because of the bad road conditions the Almighty has made, any gay activities that people were planning on doing will have to be postponed by a day or two.”

…As for the millions of straight people in New York City who were also grounded by the bad weather, the televangelist said, “I think God probably wonders, if these people are really straight, then what are they doing in New York?”

Just to be clear guys this is satire.

Not very well marked satire on the Huffington Post which is annoying since a lot of people’s minds have gone hey this isn’t the Onion and Pat Robertson is always saying wacky things so why wouldn’t I believe it but yeah there you go.

First time through I read this with emphasis on “gay.” Like,

“It takes me an hour on the bus to go see my girlfriend and an hour on the bus to come back home, and nobody thought to mention we’ve got a vast system of secret underground gay tunnels?!”
