+ In response to Oluwaseyi Omooba’s exit from the UK’s The Color Purple stage adaptation earlier this year, Alice Walker has written to Shadow & Act about how Celie came to be:

My grandmother, like Celie, was not attracted to men. She was, in fact, very drawn to my grandfather’s lover, a beautiful woman who was kind to her, the only grown person who ever seemed to notice how remarkable and creative she was. In giving Celie the love of this woman, in every way love can be expressed, I was clear in my intention to demonstrate that she too, like all of us, deserved to be seen, appreciated, and deeply loved by someone who saw her as whole and worthy.

+ Lena Waithe and Zendaya picked up Women in Hollywood awards from Elle last week.

+ Listen, this whole interview with Supergirl’s Azie Tesfai is amazing and you should just click through and read it. She talks about what’s next for Alex and Kelly, why their relationship is special, how she’s getting her own non-romance storyline, and flirting with Katie McGrath.

+ The season three trailer for Atypical is here and it is gaaaaay!

+ There’s a new Mary Shelley series coming to HBO.

+ Ali Krieger and Ashlyn Harris are so great in this new interview with Out. Krieger is just so very out of fucks. (“Screw everyone that doesn’t want to be a part of our life. We’re thriving.”)

+ Hmm.

+ Like Hillary Clinton, Brandi Carlile has exited the Fortune Women’s Summit due to Kirstjen Nielsen’s involvement.

+ In HBO’s Watchmen, Regina King kicks white supremacist ass.

  2. “The One Day at a Time writers are back on this very day to start working on season three!” So excited for the new season! However, ODAAT currently has three seasons, so they’re working on season 4 :)

  3. Speaking of gay Christmas films, did we not hear last year that Kristen Stewart was gonna be in a gay Christmas rom com? Was that a dream I had?

  4. That Cosmo article about True Love or True Lies is hilarious: “For ease and to minimise everyone’s boredom, I haven’t included the straights.”

  5. Yay for Regina King on Watchmen and for her wish to someday bring Shirley Chisholm’s story to our screens!
