PHOTOESSAY: West Hollywood’s Halloween Carnival Is Really Bonkers

I went to the largest halloween celebration possibly on earth so you don’t have to. They say that attendance lands somewhere in the hundreds of thousands and I wouldn’t be surprised if that was true. It’s really intense — if you ask me what is going on in half these photos, I can honestly say I have no idea. I recommend checking it out if you ever find yourself in West Hollywood on October 31 (and if you go early it’s much more mellow). Protip: leave around the time you see clowns passed out on the floor.

  1. So much costume inspiration! I especially like the person who dressed as fries and the husky in a tutu.

  2. I’ve been there a few times, including last year and it always surprises me how many people(mostly cis-het tourist couples) bring kids with them in costume. I agree with the clown comment, but if it’s before 11pm it’s too early to leave, specially if you don’t have work the next day.
