  1. Handsome fistbump! ? (If you want.)

I don’t know the word’s complete history but in Jane Austen it’s used to describe men and women equally. So it at least had a turn as a gender-neutral word!

  2. Handsome is a great term, though I don’t use it for myself I do like using it for others who do like it. I’ve also had an ex friend cis-het woman) tell me the term rugged is the better strive as handsome is never used for the elderly. Not sure how true that is.

  3. Handsome has a long history of being applied to describe strong, distinguished and poised women. Particularly in English history.

It sounds like the perfect word for your special self. Go Alyssa!

  4. “But I’m learning all the time that I can like my body as it is, and still very much want to change the language and conversations surrounding it.”

!!!!!!!!!!!YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! this is what I’m keeping this is so great thank you

I’ve just recently really leaned into the whole butch thing for myself and that’s done great stuff for me even though I don’t really identify with gender and yes!!! I love this!!!!

  5. I relate a lot to the lack of connection to the body as a person with CP since the disabled body is only seen in the medical context. Developing a sexuality and understanding my gender was very hard and lots of dysphoria is hard to retrace to gender since it’s also disability-related.
